Case study · Craig Duswalt International
Rockstar Impact
Turning one-time event attendees into recurring members.
Building now. Target: Sept + Oct 2026 events.
Chapter 01
Client
Craig Duswalt — professional speaker, bestselling author, former personal assistant to Ozzy Osbourne, tour manager for Air Supply, creator of the Rockstar System for Success and the Rockstar Mastermind. His business: teach entrepreneurs how to stand out, wrapped in the energy of a rock-and-roll career.

Chapter 02
What it is
Rockstar Impact is Craig's branded mobile app — the always-on surface between his events. It turns speaker attendees into known members, delivers his weekly tips and content between appearances, and runs registration, check-in, and tiered access for his charity gala and the 3-day Rockstar IMPACT seminar. One app, one brand, one membership ladder.
Chapter 03
Existing Success
Craig already runs a thriving speaking business — monthly masterminds, a yearly magazine, and major live events. His audience knows him, shows up, and pays for VIP access. The problem wasn't demand; it was that every piece of that business ran through a different tool, and the relationship between events lived in nobody's inbox.
Chapter 04
The Challenge
Craig's problem was a business problem, not a content problem.
- Live events don't compound without a container. An attendee at the charity gala or the Rockstar IMPACT seminar is gone the moment the event ends. Without a direct channel between events, every campaign starts from zero.
- Payment was fragmented from access. VIP tickets were sold in one tool; the content lived in another; follow-up happened in a third. A buyer would pay $297 and then chase a link to get in.
- "Build an app in 2 hours" wasn't the answer. Craig knows the difference between a prototype and a production app. An agency quote was too much money and too long a timeline. He needed something between.
- His admin team needed tools, not a developer. Broadcasts, event registration, check-in, and deposit refunds had to work without a ticket queue.
Chapter 05
The Solution
theAppChicks is building Rockstar Impact as a set of business capabilities Craig's company now has, not a checklist of app features.
An owned membership ladder
Three tiers — Entry, Gold, Platinum — with content and perks that escalate. The app enforces access per tier, so an Entry member never stumbles into Platinum content and a Platinum member never has to request what they paid for. Free attendees can be upgraded from the admin console without a developer.
Event revenue that stays inside the brand
Ticketing runs through Kartra, but the entire event experience — registration, push reminders, QR check-in, stage-side notifications ("you're on deck") — happens in Craig's app. The refundable deposit system converts RSVPs into actual attendance instead of phantom signups.
A direct line to attendees between events
Push notifications segmented by tier. Weekly tips delivered inside the app, not buried in an inbox. A video library — with watchlist and progress tracking so members can resume where they left off — is planned. The audience Craig already has now hears from him every week, not just at events.
An admin his team actually runs
A broadcast console for Craig's assistant, an event dashboard for day-of coordination, member lookup that doesn't require a spreadsheet. The people running his events don't need to touch Kartra or a database — they just need buttons that work.
Chapter 06
What Craig's members see
- A branded app (dark theme, gold accents, bold typography) that matches the stage.
- Entry / Gold / Platinum tier they're on, obvious and never mystery-gated.
- Event ticket + QR check-in in one place.
- Weekly tips and push that arrives with his voice, not an app-store generic — with a video library that remembers where they left off coming soon.
- Locked content with a clear, polite upgrade path — no dark patterns.
Chapter 07
What Craig sees
- Dashboard showing registrations, attendance, and deposit status for the next event.
- A broadcast form that sends to everyone, a tier, or a segment.
- A member list showing who's Entry, Gold, or Platinum and when they joined.
- Stage-side controls ("you're on deck") that his on-site coordinator can run from a phone.
- One place to approve content before it ships to the app.
Chapter 08
Why this matters
Rockstar Impact is the pattern for any speaker, coach, or event-driven business:
Your events are the biggest thing you do, but they're one-off. The audience you build on stage deserves a home — a direct channel that compounds between events, with a membership ladder that turns one-time ticket buyers into recurring members.
It's also proof theAppChicks works for event-driven coaching businesses — a different model from a trader's app, a lifestyle brand, or a meditation practice, but the same delivery cadence and the same ownership outcome. His ticketing (Kartra) and payments (Stripe) stay in his account. His member list stays on his domain. The business is his; the plumbing is ours.

Status

- 2026-09-10 — Band Together charity gala
- 2026-10-08 to 2026-10-10 — Rockstar IMPACT seminar (200 attendees)
Appendix
Technical appendix
Included for the curious. This is how the outcomes above are delivered; none of it is the story.
| Layer | Choice | Why it serves the business |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile | Expo + React Native | One codebase, iOS + Android, matches Craig's brand on both stores |
| Admin | Next.js + Tailwind | Admin Craig's team actually runs — no dev tickets to send a broadcast |
| Backend | Supabase | Identity, tiers, and content in one place |
| API | FastAPI | For the integrations and event sync that need custom logic |
| Ticketing & payments | Kartra + Stripe | Craig already has his audience and ticketing on Kartra; Stripe handles payments — the app plugs in, doesn't replace |
| Push | Expo | Segmented-by-tier push notifications on iOS and Android |
Agent team behind the build: 8 agents — CEO (product/marketing), CTO (architecture + breakdown), Product & Docs, Next.js Admin, Expo Mobile, Supabase Backend, QA & Testing, DevOps. Same pattern that powers every other theAppChicks client build, configured for an event-driven coaching app.
