The Academic Council of Excellence (ACE) is a regional examining body which organizes examinations on the secondary and postsecondary levels in the Caribbean countries. Offering an array of subjects in academic, technical and vocational areas, ACE caters to students of a wide variety of ages, interests and abilities. They approached The App Chicks to build an app that will allow their stakeholders to access the latest information about the council.

ACE wanted users’ personal information to be editable on a profile screen. We had to launch the app with a simple splash screen after the initial setup which would then smoothly transition into the home page, the user’s main feed.

Our next challenges were displaying a variety of feeds on the home screen for the user to choose from, displaying every feed in detail and creating user interaction based on item type, putting a slider on the home screen which would display upcoming events at the top, making the events clickable and allow sharing of them, creating the FAQ and Chat screens based on the Hotline.io SDK, bringing the content of ACE’s about us web page into the app’s “About” section, including the Feed, FAQ, Chat, About and Profile sections in the navigation.

After initial brainstorming, The App Chicks created display feeds on the home screen according to the feed type. The feeds allow the user to view all the latest information they need about the council and all the upcoming events at a glance and dig deeper to know more, no need to carry pamphlets and brochures. Everything they need to know is right there on the home screen.
We also integrated the Hotline.io SDK and implemented it exactly the way our client had envisioned it. And we added features such as: calendar integration for easy event planning, maps and driving directions, smart navigation with all the client’s preferred sections included.
